How to use – Dropbox backup
Let’s go through the step-by-step process that guides how to backup Dropbox data to PC.
Step 1: Install and launch Recoveryfix Dropbox Backup tool on your PC, then go to Add Project.
Step 2: Define a Project Name and then click OK in the wizard that pops up.
Step 3: Click on Dropbox now to connect the Dropbox account with the tool.
Step 4: Provide a Job Name under the selected Project Name and click Next to proceed.
Step 5: Enter the asked credentials on the Dropbox Connection Details (Client ID and Client Secret).
Step 6: The tool will start connecting with the Dropbox account.
Step 7: Select Yes or No in the popup that asks, “Do you want to save credential?”. It saves you from the hassle of entering the credentials again and again.
Step 8: The tool will start loading the directories (Member/ Team folder) from your Dropbox account. Use the search bar on the top to find the directories you want to add in the backup.
Step 9: Select the desired Member/ Team Folder and hit the Next button to proceed.
Step 10: Wait until the tool loads all the selected directories.
Step 11: The tool will show the selected directories in a tree-like structure. You can expand the parent folders by clicking on the + plus sign and preview all the sub folders and files in it. Select all that you want in the backup file at the end. Click Next.
Step 12: In the next wizard, select all the filters that you want to apply for creating selective Dropbox backup.
- Date Filters: Select a File Modification Date (Start Date and End Date) to get backup for a specific date range.
- File Filters: Allows you to extract Dropbox data backup with specific file type masks.
- Exclude File Type: Mention the file types (.doc, .pdf, etc.) that you do not want in the backup.
- Include File Type: Specify all the file types (.doc, .ppt, .pdf, etc.) that you want to include in the backup at the end.
- Set an operation timeout for larger files while downloading: Select time limit for downloading files that are larger in size.
- Version Filters: Take backup of specific versions of the data.
- Include all versions: It will include all the versions till the date that you’re taking backup on.
- Include most recent versions: include most recent versions that you specify
Click Next to continue.
Step 13: On the destination screen, press the Browse button to provide the backup destination.
Step 14: You can save the backup file to an existing folder or organize it efficiently by creating a new folder at your preferred location in your system’s local or network storage.
Step 15: Once the destination path is selected, click Next to continue.
Step 16: You can execute the process immediately or schedule for later.
Click Next and the process will begin.
Step 17: Now, choose the Project Name from the left pane and then select the Job Name to see the progress of the backup job in real time.
Step 18: After the completion, the job will be in Ready state. Click on Backup report to check the summary and insights.
Step 19: You can save the Session details or click on View details for detailed report.
Step 20: Save the Summary of the process to a CSV file for future reference.
Step 21: Provide the path where you want to Save Report to CSV file.
Step 22: The backup report is now saved to your system. Click OK on the pop-up showing message, “CSV file saved successfully.”
